Sync can't find library.
I moved iTunes library to a drive on my Buffalo NAS. It's mapped to my M:\ drive in Windows and iTunes is working just fine with that location. It's there so I can turn off the computer and allow Sonos access to my music library.
Doubletwist sync says I have no music on my system.
I've repeatedly opened iTunes with shift key to manually confirm the location of the library. The xml file iTunes creates is "iTunes Library.xml". There are no other xml files anywhere on my computer beginning with "iTunes", not even the trash.
I've reinstalled Doubletwist Pro on my android and reinstalled Doubletwist Sync in Windows 10. I have deleted the Doubletwist Corporation folder in appdata and even searched the Registry.
Sync starts like it's a fresh reset but never starts iTunes to look for the library. It there a way to see where it thinks the library is?
The iTunes library location is stored in the user.config file, which is in the same folder as the library database.
Here's a help page on how to access that location quickly.
It's a XML text file so you can use any text editor (like Notepad) to view/edit. The path to the iTunes library is located in the middle of the file. Here's the entry from one of my test machines.
<iTunesXmlFilePath>C:\Users\dt\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml</iTunesXmlFilePath>
Edit the path to your iTunes XML file and see if that helps in locating your iTunes library.
I did a manual edit of the path to the iTunes library and xml file in user.config. The xml file name needed to be changed also; from 'iTunes Music Library.xml' to 'iTunes Library.xml'. Did Apple sneak that one in recently?
Saved the file, restarted Sync, and BAM! Library found, loaded, and synchronizing.
Don't know why Sync didn't start iTunes when I deleted the Doubletwist Corporation folder previously.
Thanks for the help.0
Just a follow-up on iTunes not starting when Sync can't find the library xml.
Does Sync use iTunes Helper? I just realized that I had it disabled in the Startup settings.
Thanks for the update and I"m glad that the import is now working.
I'm not sure if iTunes Helper is needed or not. I'll have to check with the QA/Dev team.0
