AirPlay clipping

Hello-

I have an Airport Express 2 and CloudPlayer running from a Pixel 2. If, using AirPlay, I have the phone's output set to 100% (no EQ), there's massive digital clipping from the Aex. It seems that the output needs to be 50% or below to avoid this. I'm ok with this being a "solution", but I'm wondering:

1. Is this "expected" behavior? Is the actual Pixel / AirPlay output being boosted beyond clipping before the signal gets to the Aex?
2. What output level from the phone would represent "0"? I'd ideally like to pass an unaltered signal between devices.

  Hello Bhob,

  When casting via Airplay, the audio signal is sent "as-is" to the Airplay device. Any volume changes are also sent as a command to the casting Airplay device so the signal isn't being altered on the device end.
