DRM and ITunes Match

I notice that to get older music I need to sign up for ITunes Match to clear the DRMs.  Will I only need that once to get the non DRM files or will I have to maintain the yearly subscription?

  Hello. That should be a one-time payment but be sure to download all of the tracks and keep the files backed up. Otherwise you'll have to sign up for the service again.
