Constant AirSync Notification
I recently upgraded to a new phone with Android Pie, and I'm seeing something I'm pretty sure wasn't happening before--a constant un-clearable notification that the "AirSync server is running." Seems that my only options are to turn off AirSync, or suppress all notifications from DoubleTwist in Android settings.
I don't want to turn them all off - I like knowing when an actual sync is happening, and I also like the player control notification when music is playing. I just don't want a permanent one when I'm not even using the app for anything.
It would be nice to have a menu option to turn off each individual notification type, but I think we could also just remove this particular one as it's hard to imagine why it's needed.

Well, we can all thank Google for that. In the latest version of Android, all background services are required to have a persistent notification in order for the OS to not terminate the service. There's currently no way around that, unless Google provides developers or users with an option to manually "hide" the notification and keep the service running. The guys at Google rarely listen to developers, but they may listen to users like you if you send an email directly to Google/Google Play.

Would there be a way for AirSync to only be running in the background when it's actually going to perform a sync? Daily schedule maybe?

Hey Dr. Twist, Is there any harm in leaving the airsync server running all the time? Will it drain my battery faster, for instance?

Hello Marc,
AirSync will consume a small amount of battery when it's enabled so if you won't be using it for a long time, it may be best to disable it until you need to sync again.
