How do I make my Android phone show up under devices again?
I was able to sync using AirSync with my Android before but it's not showing up under devices now. What do I do?

2You can manually pair your phone with doubleTwist if AirSync does not automatically detect it.
1) First make sure you are on your home WiFi network and that your phone's WiFi is turned on.
Confirm you have downloaded the free doubleTwist Player Android app and the premium doubleTwist AirSync app and AirSync is turned on in the settings.
2) Find out the IP address of your phone
3) Finally, go to doubleTwist on your Mac or PC, hover your mouse pointer over "Devices" on the left hand side and right click (or Control-click on the Mac)

- Select "Add AirSync device"
- You'll see the following pop-up message

4) Type the IP address of your phone from 2) and your phone should now appear under Devices
You should now be ready to AirSync!

It's possible you may need to restart doubleTwist on your Android device.
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Running
Look for doubleTwist, then click "Force Stop".
Then go back to the Home Screen and click the doubleTwist application icon to restart.
This may help.

Why should we go to all these lengths? Doubletwist was sold to me as something very simple. It has been 3 months now since my doubletwist stopped recognising my HTC and they have not fixed the problem. Jason, what are doubletwist doing to solve this??? This problem is totally discrediting your product and company!

Try to install "kies" on your computer! It worked for me .. it will make your computer recognize your phone and that way doubletwist will automaticly recognize your device also...
At least it worked for me (via USB.. didn't bought the wi-fi one yet) -
-
Just a note for Windows XP users....
My system running Windows XP Professional will not allow DT to find my phone if the windows firewall is on....turn it off then do a network scan in DT and it should find it.... -

I am having the same problem. The double twist program on my computer will not pick up my droid device and when i right click devices to manually put it in it says - Please Wait While Airsync s Loading - and it never gets past this point.
HELP : /-
Can you tell us the IP address of you phone and computer? Also, try doing a ping test to verify that your phone and computer can communicate. See this comment

I'm having exactly this same problem with a Droid Incredible. I've tried all of the fixes referenced, except when I try the manual IP address, it says not found. System running Win 7 home 64 bit, security on the network is wpa/wpa2 psk.

I have the mytouch 3g. I installed doubletwist, it worked at first, stopped working, so I uninstalled and reinstalled. It worked again...for a little while. Then stopped again. I kept uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. Then I went to settings on my phone and clicked connect to PC. I changed my default setting from HTC sync to disk drive and now its showing up again. Allow about a minute for your computer to recognize your phone as a disk drive. (I have a PC) Not sure how long this will work, but it seems to have fixed the issue for now.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 running Android 3.1
Mac is 10.5.8 with DT 3.1.2 (11040).
Samsung isn't showing in Devices. Tried:
1. Rebooting router
2. Force quit on Samsung
3. Add device manually and get Device is unreachable. Ping to the Samsung IP (same a used trying to add manually) succeeds.

Thanks Jason. The device is a tablet if that makes a difference. Also tried connecting it directly with USB, no joy.

USB sync with tablets is currently only partially supported. Google changed the way the Honeycomb (tablet) version of android connects to a desktop. Rather than using USB mounting like earlier versions of Android, the tablets use a technology called MTP. We're still working on fully supporting MTP in our desktop clients.
For now, AirSync is the best way to sync a tablet. Have you had any luck checking that port 9968 is open? Btw, what OS are you running? -

I have been going through all of these for hours now and think the 15 minute limit for cancelling the purchase of this unworkable app demonstrates bad faith.
-
Hi,
the 15 minute window is set by Google, not us. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to change this, or we would definitely make it longer.
If you would like, we can help you to debug any problem you're having. If you would like a refund, just forward your Google checkout receipt to android-support@doubletwist.com

Try restarting your router, doubletwist on your phone and doubletwist on your computer. Worked for me!

Some of these posts are getting old, hopefully people with issues still check here from time to time. I had some of the same issues, tried every type of re-boot, re-start, re-install, hard-reset, etc....NOTHING worked. Then, on a whim, I tried a different USB cord from an old Nokia phone I had laying around. Been working perfectly ever since. Just because my phone randomly showed-up on my mac & it always charged the phone fine, I never would've believed it was something so dang trivial as the CORD. Maybe that'll work for some of you as well.

Previously working paid-for doubleTwyst setup, now unable to see my device by either USB or wireless.
Windows 7 SP1, 64bit. Nexus S running Android 2.3.4. doubleTwyst Android 1.4.7. doubleTwist Windows 3.1.4.11347
Have tried:
- Rebooted wireless router.
- Connecting via wireless. Can ping the phone from my PC, but cant see it in devices. Have tried the manual broadcast option from settings but no change. Tried Adding the device by IP address manually but no change.
- Connecting via USB, with AirSync disabled. Tried multiple USB ports and cables. Still unable to see the device. Windows sees the phone as storage, as expected, and doubleTwyst android shows "connected to computer" but doubleTwyst client still doesnt list a device.
- Renaming the device under doubleTwyst player settings.

Tested with todays latest release (1.4.9 - 11818). USB/wireless/wireless with manual IP address input - still no device visible.

Support assisted me to find that FIPS Encryption had been enabled within Windows7 Local Security Policy. Disabling it restored doubleTwyst device visibility.

i started out with the card in my htc evo shift, and downloaded music using winamp. i think i then copied everything from that card to a new card, and now winamp won't recognize the phone. i don't see any evidence to suggest that double twist is running on this phone..wi fi is enabled on the phone. i'm hesitant to reboot my router...............is there something else i should be doing?

Hi
The previous SD card allowed me to copy music using winamp, from my computer to the phone, with a usb, and it was appearing as a drive letter. since i copied all the files from the sd card to the computer and back to the new sd card, Winamp does not discover my phone so that i can put music on it even though it does appear as a disc drive. i have never used double twist or air sync and neither appears on my phone. the music on the phone does play. i simply cannot copy music from the laptop to the phone.
wi fi is enabled on the phone but i did not reboot my router....

Hello Kathi,
I'm a bit confused by your response. If you don't use doubleTwist to sync but use WinAmp instead, you may want to contact WinAmp's support instead as they may be dependent on different things than doubleTwist for syncing.
If you can't get your Evo Shift to be recognized for syncing. An alternate method is to use a microSD USB adapter such as this one:

This was a tacky experience for a product with such promise that's been around for a little while now.
$5 bucks is peanuts to uncripple what's already baked in elsewhere. But it may as well be $50+ if I have to spend 5-10 minutes reading up on fixing something as basic as a direct USB connection.
Best was thinking there was a fix in here and reading responses to the questions about how to fix the usb device not showing up on connect and D'T support people responding with Airsync suggestions.
Desktop mac app wouldn't log into amazon either, sheesh.
No wonder the mood in here is predominantly Mr. Frownie-Face.
Hope everyone starts figuring this out for DT, happy paid dogfooding!-
Hello,
I'm sorry if you are experiencing an issue with doubleTwist. We are in the processing of rolling out a major update to the Android app and will also introduce a major update to the desktop clients but it will take some time to update everything.
Please provide more details on the issue that you're experiencing.
Thanks,

Hello,
I am having great trouble in making my doubletwist(paid customer version) to detect my samsung galaxy note SD card. Also is there anyway you can add genre and folder play into your interface, it would make life so easy for the user. I find the new real player excellent in this regards, but then it doesnt have your cool GUI. I have not really been able to download any album art, as in most cases it says 'unable to find', but my free version of itunes on my desktop finds it quite easily. Please do the needful, I bought your software yesterday and I am already regretting it.
Regards

Hello,
Are you using USB or AirSync?
If you are using AirSync, you should be able to set the sync location using the "Storage" switch in doubleTwist Settings.
View/sort by genre is a popular request. I know there are plans to implement this but I don't know when this will be.
What are some examples of albums that can't be found? Please provide artist/album names and I will search for them in the GraceNote database.
Thanks.

I have an Android, and the only thing that worked for me was the following:
Settings > Connect to PC > Default Connection Type > HTC Sync
It was preset to "Charge only". Once I switched it, my device popped up on doubleTwist. -

I had an Incredible 2 and this program worked great and was able to pair my phone easily. I got a new phone thru my warranty, same phone and now it wont pair?

Hello Brandon,
Please try some of these troubleshooting steps.

Step #2 (disable, enable AirSync) resolves the issue for many users.

Hi, I want to sync my android by usb connecting but in double twist it doesn't appear the option "usb mode"...
what can I do?-
Hello,
What device are you using? A Samsung Galaxy S3?
The Galaxy S3 only has USB MTP mode, which doubleTwist was not designed for as it expects USB Mass Storage (MSC) mode.
We are currently working on adding support for USB MTP support to doubleTwist. We hope to have a beta version of doubleTwist for Windows with MTP support for certain devices available within the next couple of months.
In the meantime, you can use AirSync to sync with USB MTP only devices such as the Galaxy S3 and Android tablets.
Here are some quickstart guides to AirSync.
