How do I make my Android phone show up under devices again?
I was able to sync using AirSync with my Android before but it's not showing up under devices now. What do I do?

2You can manually pair your phone with doubleTwist if AirSync does not automatically detect it.
1) First make sure you are on your home WiFi network and that your phone's WiFi is turned on.
Confirm you have downloaded the free doubleTwist Player Android app and the premium doubleTwist AirSync app and AirSync is turned on in the settings.
2) Find out the IP address of your phone
3) Finally, go to doubleTwist on your Mac or PC, hover your mouse pointer over "Devices" on the left hand side and right click (or Control-click on the Mac)

- Select "Add AirSync device"
- You'll see the following pop-up message

4) Type the IP address of your phone from 2) and your phone should now appear under Devices
You should now be ready to AirSync!

It's possible you may need to restart doubleTwist on your Android device.
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Running
Look for doubleTwist, then click "Force Stop".
Then go back to the Home Screen and click the doubleTwist application icon to restart.
This may help.

I had this problem as well. There were several helpful suggestions in the old forums; however what worked for me was rebooting my wireless router.
Since I did that, I have not had any issues with my handset appearing in Devices.
I have a Droid X syncing with Mac OS X 10.6.6.-

Do you have to have the premium app to sync all of it?
-
-
No, syncing does not require the premium app. The AirSync feature adds the ability to sync without using a USB cable, but wired sync is available free.

@Monique - I'm using a Droid X right here, and AirSync worked perfectly in the past (every single aspect of it). Right now I have the same problem as jim.torres109.
I tried entering the IP address as per your directions and red text is displayed on the dialog box that says "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." And nothing happens.- view 6 more comments

I'm bringing this to the attention of our Mac developers.
In the meantime, we on the Android team have a number of fixes that will help with this issue in an upcoming release. Stay tuned! -

I followed the directions with my Droid X. Still no luck. Also confirmed the X/Mac were on the same network before I started all this.

I have tried all on these suggestions with my Droid 2, can't get anything to work, running Vista. Even when I USB connect, Doubletwist does not find my phone as a device!!! I like the idea of Android as an Open Source OS, but it is clear, either the OS or the apps are Not-Ready-For-Primetime!! I am about ready to go back to my iPhone.
IF DoubleTwist is coming out with several Airsync fixes in the next release, I hope a new release of the Desktop app will come out at same time, then I will wait. But, if anyone has any suggestions so I can at least sync over USB, please respond. Thanks.-
Update, during my frustrated typing, I listed my OS as Vista, wrong PC. I am running XP. Friends should not let friends type while angry!!!
When I connect my Droid 2 via USB cable, XP mounts it as a storage device and I see the notification on the Droid. I have AirSync turned off on the Droid. The Droid never shows up under devices. I travel a bit for work and use my phone for "entertainment" while traveling. I do not want to have to carry my use-to-be-iPhone as my music player. For all the hype I have heard about DoubleTwist, I can't see it. Purchased AirSync, get the "object reference" error when putting in the IP address, device never does get seen. Ready to ask for a refund and move on to something else. Or, it may be time to write my own!!! I'm just amazed, everything on my iPhone worked great, never had an issue with any app. On the Android OS, about the only apps that seem to work are the games, the not so complicated games, that I play to just kill time. Having the same problems with a Nexus S. Adding an IP address manually comes back with "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
Tried all sorts of combinations to get the device to appear automatically, but no luck at all. -

I can't add a device as I never get a main window to be shown on mac os x, nexus one on android 2.2.2

O have the same problem - it shows in the drop box - but does nothing when i select it.

I'm done with DoubleTwist!!!! Using WinAmp. It imports from iTunes and I can sync via usb to my Droid2. It will also sync over your wireless network, but I am having issues right now getting my Droid2 onto my wireless network. DoubleTwist, good luck, but I will not be back !!!!
-
Yep, I'm already switched to WinAmp. Sorry DoubleTwist, I liked your product when it worked, but I've literally spent hours over the last couple of weeks trying to get my phone and computer to sync back up.

So does airsync only work whilst connected to your home wifi network? I assumed I could connect ad hoc to my doubletwist app when on the move in a peer to peer type arangement rather than having to connect in a network arrangement with my home wifi network?

I have a Samsung Captivate on Droid 2.2 trying to sync with Mac OS X 10.6.6./ DoubleTwist 3.0.0.
The very first time after I purchased the air sync it worked, but now it won't see the device.
I've tried manually adding the device via ip address (unsuccessful, with not even an error message showing), turning my router on and off, disconnecting from my wifi network, force stopping double twist on my captivate, but alas nothing works.
What is the timeframe for a patch to be released for the s/ware?- view 1 more comment

Mine was working ok, now it's not. What a pain. I paid £3.71 for this!

My phone won't show up when attached USB. I figure they want you
to pay. I would gladly pay 3 bucks but if that doesn't work either whats the point. -

My phone doesnt show up as recognizable at all...both latest versions on my phone and on my computer. My phone (Nexus S) is not recognized. When I type in my IP address manually without the phone being in usb storage mode and it just accepts it but doesnt show my phone under "Devices"....but when I manually provide my IP address while its fully connected to the computer, it states Android Device not Found....I thought it was just a free app issue so I paid for AirSync and thats not working either....very upset that no solution has been brought up yet...I have done everything listed to no avail. I have a Nexus S running on Gingerbread. Please email me with any answers as soon as they are thought of. I dont expect to repay for the app either. HELP. truthdotcom@gmail.com

tried it on a friends computer...downloaded doubletwist to their comp and retried and it worked fine....came to the conclusion that although it may say that you have the latest version of doubletwist, you really dont. A simple delete and re-download should help some...

DT was not recognizing my device on my PC after it had previously done so. I didn't think to uninstall and reinstall DoubleTwist, but since I have it is now working great! Thanks for mentioning that!

I fixed mine by deleting the doubletwist, on a Mac, deleting all locations where doubletwist stores/installs files. Re-installed and now everything is good.

I plan to reverse the $4.99 charge on my mastercard. the product does not work so I (and all of you) are under no legal obligation to pay for it.
-

Never mind. I unplugged the wireless router, let it sit for a few minutes, plugged it back in, and now it works.
-
Finally, Some one left a note to uninstall the Double twist off of the computer and reinstall the newest version from their website.
It seems the genius at double twist did a modification and didn't post a new version. Amazing but must be true it worked for me. -

It doesn't work! It doesn't sync at all with USB cable. The computer doesn't recognize it. The PC recognizes the device attached via USB, but double twist doesn't recognize it. This is friggin useless to me unless I can actually sync the music to my device
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Double twist doesn't recognize the device is attached. This program is useless until I get this problem resolved!!!!.-
Same fricken prob here!!! What a rip-off!!!!!!!! I am super pissed and will trash doubletwist everywhere I can on the internet!

Same thing here. Doubletwist doesn't see my device although the USB cable is plugged in and my compute sees my Android Phone.

Hey everyone,
for anyone running Mac OS, we just released a new version of the Mac desktop software. Please try downloading it, and see if it fixes your syncing issues.
Windows users, hang tight, we have a new release coming in a few days.

Please help-
Hi, can you verify that your phone and your computer are on the same network? To do this, you will need to find the IP address of both the phone and the computer.
For your Android phone, go to the home screen and press menu, then Settings->Wireless&Networks->WiFi Settings and then tap on your wireless network (it should say connected.) This should pop up a dialog with your phones IP address.
For windows, please follow these directions.
Once you have both addresses, can you verify that they both begin with the same 3 numbers? For example, 192.168.8.x, where x will be different for your phone and your computer. -

Please help me get my computer to recognize my Android LG Ally phone via usb cable again for Doubletwist program. I've upgraded the program on my computer & done the force stop & restart on my phone-still nothing.

How can this be marked as answered? Jason's 'solution' is totally bogus. Give us a new version that actually works!
-
-
Not only none of these solution work, but can;t get a refund from the Android market. Not cool.
-
Unfortunately Google changed the Android market refund policy to only allow refunds for 15 minutes after purchase. That part is out of our control. However, if you would like a refund, please forward your Google Checkout email receipt to android-support@doubletwist.com and we will refund your money.

That's for when you change your mind, surely. In this case a product is clearly faulty and doubletwist have not delivered what was promised.
-
-
This question has NOT been answered.
Please can someone from DT tell me when I will be able to do what was promised by DT for which I paid for, without doing all that IP stuff which SHOULD NOT be necessary? -

I have the new Samsung Galaxy S, it's already preinstalled with AirSync and DoubleTwist...wifi is on... I have a router at home and I'm entering the IP address found on phone and it says could not find the device...911 emergency help.

Hi,
can you check if you phone and your computer are on the same network? I posted directions above on how to do this. Also, a simple ping test can help us diagnose network problems. Try opening a command prompt (go to the Start Menu->Run and type "cmd" then press enter.)
When you have the command prompt, type "ping phone_ip" where phone_ip is the IP address of your phone (should be something like "192.168.8.100".) You should see messages about replies from your device. If you see messages about "address unreachable" or "no response" then there is probably a problem with your network (router config or firewall.) -

Greetings! I did this process with a Samsung Continuum from work and after much effort I got it to work. However, I was trying to walk one of my customers through this process with his device and when he went to Add Airsync device and put in his IP Address and submitted, he got the following error msg: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" Any ideas why he would get this error message? Thanks for any input.

I was having the same problem. I was able to work around this by disabling deteministic network enhancer on my network adapter. As soon as I did this my device appeared in doubletwist.
Hope this helps someone.-

Still no help from Doubletwist in getting USB sync with phone to work. Please help!!! I have an LG Ally Phone and the device does not show up in the program on my PC.

Hi,
does the phone show up under 'My Computer'? You will need to mount the phone for it to show up in doubleTwist. You can do that by plugging your phone into USB, pulling down the status bar, and selecting "USB Connected". Let me know if you need more help.
Cheers, Jason -

I ALSO have this problem on my Droid. I have followed EVERYONE'S steps and it's not working AT ALL for me. I also have paid for this and am not happy that it isn't working. Please tell me you have resolved this issue by now!
-
Hi, have you verified that your phone and computer are on the same network and can communicate? If they aren't on the same network, then AirSync won't work.
-
-
-
-
-
-
You can verify this with the following directions. You will need to find the IP address of both the phone and the computer.
For your Android phone, go to the home screen and press menu, then Settings->Wireless&Networks->WiFi Settings and then tap on your wireless network (it should say connected.) This should pop up a dialog with your phones IP address.
For windows, please follow these http://www.ehow.com/how_2068589_check... directions.
Once you have both addresses, can you verify that they both begin with the same 3 numbers? For example, 192.168.8.x, where x will be different for your phone and your computer. -

Just bought HTC Evo 4G, installed DoubleTwist on it and on my iMac running 10.6.7. It worked great the first time I tried to sync. It was taking a long time so I canceled the sync about half-way through, figuring I could just pick up where I left off and now I haven't been able to get the HTC to appear as a device in DoubleTwist on my mac. I have tried all the suggestion (i.e. manually entering in my phone's IP address in the DoubleTwist desktop app, force-quitting DoubleTwist and Airsync on my HTC and restarting..) nothing is working! It's a shame because we really need this to work. If DoubleTwist doesn't fix this, someone will come along soon and release a better app. I want my money back. Sorry.
