Display Embedded Lyrics
Any plans to add support for embedded lyrics on Android? I'm not talking about downloading lyrics from the Internet or anything, just displaying lyrics that are embedded in the file's tags.

Sleepdeprivation, the ID3v2 metadata includes a tag for text/lyrics, and it's stored as part of the individual mp3 file.
That's what I'm interested in displaying.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. That sounds like a good idea. We'll consider adding this feature in a future release.- view 2 more comments

Peter Salzman February 24, 2013 23:05Considering that we've seen a "something new is coming" message in the Win32 DoubleTwist app for ... half a year now? I seriously doubt anything is happening with this project. It almost looks abandoned. They should just open source it and let the community take over. I guarantee lyric support would be added within a month.EditDeleteRemove

I sing a lot of songs learned on the go. Sometimes I like to see the lyrics just because they are meaningful and I can't understand some words. In any case, my whole family would enjoy having embedded lyrics onscreen, instead of a stack of printouts flying around the house.
Would be a sweet + :)

To go a step further...
If there aren't lyrics attached to the actual file, the phone app could look up the song (using the metadata) on a website such as LyricsWiki. -

There's lyricsApp, it downloads from the internet, but it does a great job. (I listen to obscure music, and almost all of it is on there.) There's other apps for this out there too. Good luck.
As to imbedded lyrics, its not actually stored on the mp3 file, its a fancy database feature in iTunes, so its difficult for programmers to export hence why it doesn't yet exist on Android. -

I am sure that dt is very capable of adding this feature, but I would recommend "Lyrics app" in the market. It is free and works awesome. When a song starts on dt, it automatically downloads the lyrics within the app. An icon appears at the top of the menu so you can drop down the lyrics screen or leave it closed. One thing that I have seen as a problem with it is if the tags on the song are wrong. Check it out and let me know.

Don't see why you should need two applications to do the job that one can do. That's more of a workaround. It would be a nice feature in dt and would add to why someone might spend money.
Now what would be awesome is if DT had the ability to have retrieve lyrics for songs that don't have them embedded , just like the lyric app that jpglaspie mentioned does. -

To me, size is a huge factor. The more you add to the file or the database the more of a possibility the device will run slower. Also by using another app, the app clears the the lyrics out when dt switches to the next song. Just my though. Either way is good.

This is the only thing I miss most from iOS... displaying lyrics which are embbeded on my songs.

I agree, display of embedded lyrics into mp3 files would be a huge plus. I would purchase AirSync if it had that future. So far only iPod/iPhone/iTouch/iPad have it among mobile devices I’m familiar with. Especially, iPad has an elegant way to display text from lyrics tag through transparent layer over embedded front cover graphic. Too bad there is no mobile device that supports synchronized lyrics as Windows Media Player used to do it, or even synchronized them on your own; however, I could live without lyrics sync. if only lyrics could be displayed.
Of course my wish list would go further – if you tackle display of lyrics then an additional click to display embedded comments should be a snap.
Well, how about displaying all embedded graphics? (or at least the front cover and the back cover – most of my music collection has both, or more like media sides, internal inlets or envelopes, photo of musicians, etc. – iTunes or Windows Media Player 11/or below- allow user to add multiple graphics into one music file.

Hello,
It's still under consideration. There are a lot of new features that we are currently juggling for future releases.
Thanks,

Honestly, displaying lyrics embedded in the mp3 tag is really the only feature I want from DoubleTwist that's not currently present.
As an ex-developer, surely this couldn't be *that* difficult? It's a bit outrageous that this functionality is missing. Everyone loves lyrics.
I'll re-buy the app for this feature!- view 1 more comment

Yes.. please add this feature to DoubleTwist! .. and the ability to lookup a server for lyrics! See TTPod for an excellent example!

Wow O_o no lyrics features on this great player ? Please add this feature ASAP

Even the default player in my old LG 2X had this feature. If I could I'd take that app to my new phone any day just for the feature. Personally this feature is in so few players but so in demand it could basically become DT's unique selling point if implemented.
