Airsync to external SD card?
Is there any way to use airsync to sync music to an external sd card, rather than the phone's internal memory? I bought airsync assuming that it would have the same capabilities as connecting with a USB cable, only wirelessly. If it doesn't have this capability, then I guess I just wasted $5. For what it's worth, I have an Atrix 4G with a 16GB micro sd card and the latest versions of doubletwist and airsync. I am running windows 7 64-bit.

Same disappointment here. We want AirSync to SD-card. Phone memory is for apps. Not for music. Got 25Gb of music to sync with sd-card...

Same here - LG Optimus Speed - Its not possible to sync to my external SD-card.
Only the internal storage is used. Before I bought AirSync I could sync to to both. -

Hello Johnny,
Which Galaxy S3 do you have? Is it a GT-i9300 or a US variant?
In the General section of doubleTwist Settings, how many settings do you see?
Just "Lock to portrait" and "Name:"?
Can you email us the vold.conf/vold.fstab file from /etc?
You can use a file manager like Astro to send it to us.
Please send it to:

I agree!
Can the Doubletwist team include an option to set target folder for airsync on Android devices??!
At the moment, Airsync only syncs to /mnt/sdcard/ which is the internal SD card.
The external SD card on my phone is located at: /mnt/sdcard/external_sd.
Can you add a target folder option in Doubletwist to configure where Airsync syncs to?!
At the moment the Airsync software is just about useless for me until this is fixed!
Thanks -

Same frustration here, too, on the lack of Airsync to sd card. It seems doubletwist itself is also buggy when it comes to the external SD card. I often have to kill the running instance of doubletwist and restart it to get it to pick up all the songs on the external sd card after doing a sync over USB.

Without this feature airsync is a waste for me!!!
(Sorry for my bad english) -

I cant believe that this would be an issue. Is there a fix yet? Seems DT people aren't responding.....................
-
-
Oh, shit, really? I just bought an sd card for my Atrix because there's no more room for music on the internal memory. Doubletwist needs to fix this, pronto - this is a basic function.

Seriously ... give me my money back!! What a piece of crap!

I have had no problems except two. The shuffle feature is not available in the playlists and, I dont know exactly how to turn off double twist since the songs keep playing in the background and do not show in the drop down screen. What has been happening is that I will use a playlist, pause a song back out of the application and I do not know how to log out of it.
-
-
Hello,
You can enable shuffle mode from the Now Playing screen. It's the intersecting arrow icon on the right.
What device are you using? I am currently testing on a LG G2x and whenever I had anything playing, the status pulldown will show me that doubleTwist is active and allow me to drop into the app directly from the pulldown.
You can also use the widgets to control playback.
Thanks,

with all due respect, the fact that this integral feature is currently lacking, and that u fail to mention it in the app marketplace description suggest to me that you knowingly withheld info. I paid the money for it, but u guys have misled me into buying it, and Id appreciate a refund.
I'm using a galaxy s2 btw- view 1 more comment

Hello Stefan,
What operating system are you running? Windows 7? Vista?
Did the app recognize the SD card properly and showed the capacity?
Can you run the doubleTwist computer app in debug mode and send us a log? To do this, please hold down SHIFT and open the application. A new menu, Debug, should now appear next to the Help menu.
Wait one minute for the startup scan to complete. Perform a sync.
Then please send us the log files located here:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR_USERNAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\doubleTwist Corporation\doubleTwist desktop\Log\
Windows Vista/Win7: C:\Users\[YOUR_USERNAME]\Appdata\Local\doubletwist Corporation\doubletwist Desktop\log\
You may need to adjust settings to see hidden folders if you don't have this option already set.

Vista: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wi...
Win7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wi...

There is an "experimental" function in the new update that allows you to ATTEMPT to airsync to the storage card. But after each sync and close/restart of the app it resets to the default internal storage and you have to start from scratch. In their defense they did post that this was "experimental". At least they are trying, winamp hasn't even made an attempt.

Hello Tommy,
What case number was assigned?
I'll look into if we've had any further success in replicating the issue.
Thanks,

Im gunna stick with amazon cloudplayer till they fix this. It's not a featuresk as doubletwist but it works

Update DoubleTwist Player to the newest version from the market. Then, go to settings in DoubleTwist/AirSync, and click Sync Volume. then change it to Memory Card.
Worked for me! :D- view 3 more comments

I am using Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. And it seems that doubletwist is unable to detect the SD Card, because the "sync volume" setting is not present.
I think it's because galaxy tab is using different path for the SD Card. The path for the card is on:
/SDcard/extstorages/SDcard.
Yeah, it seems a little weird, the internal memory was the first 'SD card', while the external memory was the SDcard under extstorages under SDcard. -

I have an HTC Evo 4G with Cyanogenmod 7.0. I have Doubletwist installed, but there is no option for "Sync Volume" in my settings. I have all the other Airsync settings, but not this one.
I purchased Airsync using the combo with Album Art syncing, could that be the problem?-
Hello,
Isn't the Evo a "single storage" device? That is, it only has SD card storage and no internal storage location. If that is the case, there will not be a "Sync Volume" setting as there is no other location to switch to.
Thanks,
Henry -
-
oh...alright. I was worried it would be trying to store it to the internal somehow, for example where apps are stored. Thanks Henry

Totally agree with the posts above. Managed to get my DoubleTwist to Airsync with my S2, and to the 32Gb external SD Card.
Does need to be sorted out though (not just an 'experimental' function) for both AirSync and USB sync.
I plan to use my S2 as my primary media player (finally ditching my iTouch) and Syncing over Wi-Fi whilst a good option, is never going to be as fast as connecting the device via USB to my PC -

From Henry in a comment above:
"The "Sync Volume:" setting is in the AirSync setting area. Go to "Settings" from the doubleTwist home screen and then tap on "AirSync" to expand the settings for this section. It's the 3rd setting between "AirSync passcode:" and "Can't see your device?"."
I have purchased AirSync, and I have an internal and external memory (SD) set up on my new Galaxy Tab 7+. There is no setting listed between "Passcode" and "Can't see." Something is amiss.
One possible consideration is that some units do treat all SD cards as collectively one whole set of memory. Typically, some such devices have the symptom of not allowing any file manager but the default one access to an external SD. Some units do have a setting for using internal or external as a default "first" storage area.
If you have such a device as described, try looking for for system setting to tell your unit to use the external SD first, as it looks like DT would also be cut off by that device from detecting two separate areas of memory.
This may account for why my unit doesn't show this "Sync Volume" setting... or so I might believe if my device wasn't rooted and I can now use third party file managers to reach the external SD. And yet DT/AirSync still doesn't give me this setting and syncs everything to the internal memory area.
Oh, and Henry, you have empathy for having to deal with all things going on in the forum. The DT development staff, however, needs to get current features tweak, streamlined, and stabilized. The longer I've played with DT, and now invested in AirSync, the less enthused I get by the day.-
Hello,
I'm not sure if we've tested the Galaxy Tab 7+ yet so it could be that Samsung changed the mount points on that device. Because Google did not provide guidelines for "dual storage devices", each manufacturer has come out with their own solution, which makes it very fragmented and difficult to deal with.
For instance, the Galaxy S2's locations are "/mnt/sdcard & /mnt/sdcard/external_sd" while the HTC Incredible's locations are "/mnt/emmc/ & /mnt/sdcard".
Can you email the vold.fstab and/or vold.conf file from /etc to support at doubletwist.com? Those files will help in diagnosing why AirSync doesn't see the memory card location.
Thanks,
Henry -
-
Wouldn't this be another argument in favor of letting the end user select the storage location manually?

Hello,
On most devices, you can use the "Storage:" switch to select the SD card.
